Our coffee is roasted in Melbourne
Vacation Coffee started in 2016, then an unnamed roastery supplying coffee to some of the top cafes around Melbourne, operating out of a communal roasting space in Cremorne.
Founders Jimmy, Matt and Kael—each well established within the specialty coffee and hospitality world—set out to find a venue for the first brick-and-mortar Vacation cafe.
A year later, in 2017, their search was over. An espresso bar seating 10 was built at the base of a historic building, with views of Flinders St.
With bursts of pastel green and pink, Vacation CBD’s retro-modern design evokes a sense of poolside leisure—a welcome escape within the corporate backdrop of the city. The cafe’s 8-metre-high ceilings and expansive windows offer impressive views over the MCG and Birrarung Marr.
In 2021, Vacation Cremorne opened its doors. A more intimate space, it’s a beautifully styled espresso bar tucked away off Church St. Concrete slab and natural woods frame a more contemplative coffee experience, away from the buzz of the CBD.
The same year, Vacation moved house—now roasting out of a dedicated space in Brunswick, equipped with a Diedrich IR12 roaster. The roasting team is afforded greater space and flexibility to refine profiles, taste, and cup coffees, ensuring a high level of quality control and consistency.
In 2024, Vacation Richmond opened its doors, showcasing our approachable coffee through a focused espresso bar and self-serve batch brew on tap. Paired with a selection of gourmet sandwiches and smoothies, the space offers a more relaxed, everyday expression of Vacation.
