IN THE CUP
From the first sip, this coffee is mellow, elegant, and beautifully refined. Bright notes of ripe cherry bring a gentle vibrancy to the cup, complemented by the delicate complexity of assam tea and a lingering crème brûlée sweetness. As a filter, these flavours unfold with exceptional clarity, balance, and elegance. Pulled as an espresso, the coffee becomes rich and syrupy, with a silky body that amplifies its ripe fruit character and caramelised sweetness.
STORY BEHIND THE CUP
Sulawesi Typica by Yolan Tirta is a rare coffee grown in the highlands of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Produced by third-generation farmer Yolan Tirta, whose mill was established in 2016, this coffee reflects his dedication to advancing the region's specialty coffee industry through innovative farming and processing methods.
Grown at 1,250 metres above sea level in fertile volcanic soils, the coffee benefits from a tropical climate, abundant rainfall, and natural, chemical-free cultivation. Surrounded by conservation forests rich in wildlife, the farms exist in harmony with the local ecosystem.
This lot features the revered Typica variety—one of the original Arabica cultivars. Descended from Ethiopian coffee plants cultivated in Yemen and later introduced to Java by the Dutch in the 17th century, Typica remains one of the most historically significant and sought-after coffee varieties today.
