STORY BEHIND THE CUP
Flowers in Action was born out of a project initiated and supported by women. Its name, derived from the Portugese word 'Flores em Ação', symbolizes its mission to empower female participants in the coffee production process. The project provides its participants with a platform to utilize their creativity and develop unparalleled micro-lots. All proceeds from this project are returned to the inspirational women behind it.
Situated in the South of Minas Gerais, Mantiqueira de Minas is a small mountainous region, located in the highest part of the state. This vibrant coffee producing area is led by Patricia Borges, who sources coffees from smallholder farmers. These varieties offer intense flavors of citrus, florals, and fruit, with a full body, distinct citric acidity, sweetness and a lingering finish.
The coffee farming of this region began with Patricia's grandfather, Dionizio Batista Borges, who needed to source seedlings from the nearby town of Três Corações by ox cart. Today, 150,000 trees of Catuai, Catucai, Icatu, Mundo Novo, Bourbon, Arara and Geisha are managed by both Patricia and her children, making Fazenda Fortaleza dos Borges a family affair.

Dose: 15g coffee | 220g Water at 93°C
Step 1 (0 minute)
Start your timer before pre-wetting your ground coffee. Pre-wet (Bloom) with 25g of hot water and wait for 45 seconds.
Step 2 (45 seconds)
Gently pour 100g of hot water in a circular motion. Let the coffee steep for 60 seconds.
Step 3 (1 minute 45 seconds)
Pour to 220g at 1 minute 45 seconds, then swirl once the pour is done. Enjoy your brew!
